Well it looks like we'll be starting our house soon. We finally placed our existing home on the market and had a contract in 4 days. Settlement is due for March 8th so we are frantically packing and putting up a shed on our block. Here are a few pics.
The first is the left side of our block and what it looked like prior to the shed.
Here is my brother in law laying the slab by himself. Our shed is 9 x 9.

Not Much Happening....
Not a lot has been happening with the block. We are still working on our plan so in the meantime we head out to the block and hang there, mow it and have the occasional picnic. Here is a pic of my 3 special people....my rascal son Kyan who wouldn't look at the camera, my hubby Shane and beautiful daughter Logan. All 3 of them love being on the ride on.

We Have Water
After initially believing we would need to rely fully on tank water, we since discovered we could in fact have connection to town water. So this was the first thing we arranged after settlement of the block and our exciting news to share this week. YEAH!!!

Some Photo's of our Block
Back with a couple of pics of our block. Not the best photos. I remembered just as we were driving off. Next time I might get out of the car. This is our driveway and the left boundary in the first photo and then the second photo is looking down towards the other road frontage. We are on a corner. We are only going to build single storey but if we did build a double storey we would most likely have river views or glimpses in the right hand corner which you can't really see in this pic.

We now own our land...well at least the bank does
Our land settled on Easter Tuesday, the 6th April 2010. I wanted to get a photo of our family in front of the real estate sign with the big SOLD sticker but by the time we got out to the block that afternoon, the sign was gone. The block needs a now so I'll endeavour to take a photo once that is done. We are all very excited. The real estate agent left us a bottle of bubbles so that was nice to celebrate with on Tuesday night. (Pity I fell asleep after a couple of sips watching Survivor on the couch, lol). I'll be back with some photos soon.

A New Blog
Hi There...I've created a new blog. I have a blog called Chooks Scraps already which I use for all my cards, scrapbooking and family news but I thought I might start a new blog for our families next big adventure in life....building a new home on acreage and until I can come up with another name...will be Chooks Nest.
My husband Shane and I built our first home about 12 years ago and although it has been myself pushing for the last few years to venture onto a bigger block, it has taken me a while to convince Shane. I know it will be hard to eventually leave our first home but I know we will love our new even more.
We signed a contract on 2.22 acres about 3 weeks ago and are due to settle on Easter Tuesday. I only ever wanted about 1 acre but we really like this area and know with some hard work we'll reap the rewards in the end.
I just thought I'd share the plan of our block, ours is Lot 2. I have discovered a great forum where others who are building or have built share there thoughts and experiences and I know I will be referring back to my blog to share things from time to time.
